SPECIAL LENTEN OFFERINGS

Taizé Contemplative Prayer continues this Tuesday, February 19th during the noon hour and will continue on Tuesdays for the six weeks of Lent.  Taizé ("tuh-Zay") is a time of music, prayer, scripture and silence.  These four elements constitute one half hour of weekly contemplative prayer practiced around the globe by Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox communities.  It bridges denominations and faith communities.  This is meant to be a time set apart to be with God and to help you unwind and center yourself.  Led by Revs. Jim Petersen and Kama Hamilton Morton, this joint meditation will be held in our sanctuary from 12:15 P.M.-12:45 P.M. every Tuesday through Lent.

Lenten devotionals are available in the narthex for adults, families, and teens.  In addition, the Stillspeaking Lenten Devotional 2008 is online at www.uccvitality.org.  This Lenten Devotional is another product of the Writers' Group, sponsored by the Congregational Vitality Initiative.

"WE ARE GOD'S EYES" PHOTO WALL

In the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta, "Christ has no body but yours.  No hands, no feet on earth but yours.  Yours are the eyes through which He looks with compassion on the world.  Christ has no body on earth now but yours."  We are doing another photo wall display and are asking that each artist send 3-5 jpg photos electronically to Denise Jackson (meagi1@bresnan.net).  Photos need to be titled and submitted by March 15th.  This year's theme is "We are God's Eyes".

The office will be closed at noon on Friday, February 15th and on Presidents' Day, Monday February 18th.  We'll be back in business on Tuesday, February 19th at 8:30 A.M.

WHY I LOVE MY CHURCH?

"We believe all are one in Christ; that none are excluded from Christ's table; that God is still speaking to us and all who believe; that we are all loved unconditionally and are accepted."

"Great Sunday School."

"Knowledge and friendship."

"We pray to God and that's good."

"Its members are great cooks and very hospitable."

"It is family away from home."

"The people and the minister."
