MAY 14, 2008 Please join us in the Fellowship Hall this Sunday, May 18th following worship (12:00 P.M.) for our congregation's ANNUAL MEETING. Brunch will be served by our Fellowship Board and we will receive reports, elect officers and board members as well as vote for the 2008-2009 budget. The annual meeting of the Memorial Fund Corporation will be held immediately following. We look forward to seeing you there!
Rev. Jim Petersen's Bible Study will meet on Sunday, May 18 at 9:30 A.M. for Ch.13 in your study guide The Lifeblood of the Church (26:1-27:56) and on Wednesday, May 21st at 12:00 P.M. for Ch. 14 in your study guide God With Us (27:57-28:20).
SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS & ROOM PICK UP This Sunday is teacher appreciation! Thanks so much to the many who have taught and helped with our children this year. We can see the future through the eyes of our young ones! Children will begin in worship and then go to Sunday School for the third rotation of Woman with the Alabaster Jar. Please remember to register your children for VBS. There is a table in the narthex to do so. Maybe you are willing to help? Please let us know if you would like to. We can find places for older children to assist, too. Teacher and Nursery attendants are needed for the UCC Sundays in the summer on the following dates: 6/22, 6/29, 7/20, 7/27, 8/17 and 8/24. TAKE A BOW Kudos to our congregation for co-hosting a very successful Conference Annual Meeting. We had a wonderful Conference Annual Meeting shared with the Disciples of Christ for fellowship, food and fun, worship, workshops and keynote addresses as well tending to necessary business as moderated by Ray Young. SPECIAL THANKS to Donalee LaBar and her committee for registration, Jaybe Floyd and team for the Thursday night supper, Nick Cetto for set up, Syneva Heupel and all others who provided snacks, June Rovero for providing hospitality, Stacy Hopkins for organizing housing, Janet Koostra for publicity, Ray & Diane Young for the workshops, Jim Petersen for being one of our local pastors, Richard McDowell who was the UGF Liaison, the Bertsche Memorial Fund for sponsoring our ten youth who attended, and to everyone who attended as delegates, choir members, visitors, as well as those who attended Sunday morning worship. It was especially nice worshiping at Central Christian Church with the Disciples of Christ Sunday morning, filling their sanctuary with our ecumenical spirit. NATIONAL YOUTH EVENT 2008! It was announced at the Conference Annual Meeting that there are 10 slots still available for this potentially life-changing experience July 21-30. Cost is $1,000. The Bertsche Memorial Fund will support ½ of that ($500). Call or stop by the office if interested.
Received at the Conference Annual Meeting was a certificate for our support of theological education in 2007 from
Graduation Banquet, Friday May 16th, 6:00 P.M. All UCC and CUMC youth are invited to attend a banquet honoring our 2008 graduates. Free will offering at the door. The menu is Italian chicken served over rice, salad, vegetable and bread. A cake auction will follow dinner to help fund summer activities. If you would like to make a cake to be auctioned off please contact Bobby Lauver at 868-2520. RSVP to the office at 453-4316.

In Memory of Priscilla Kuka Once again the PA system in the sanctuary has been enhanced through the charity of Tom & Jan Robitaille, in memory of Priscilla Kuka. Installation was done by Sunshine Productions and included a new soundboard mixing console and handheld and lavaliere mics. We seek to address continued hearing problems in the sanctuary. Thank you, Tom and Jan, for your lovely gift in memory of your dear friend.
