SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS & ROOM PICK UP

This Sunday is teacher appreciation!  Thanks so much to the many who have taught and helped with our children this year.  We can see the future through the eyes of our young ones!  Children will begin in worship and then go to Sunday School for the third rotation of Woman with the Alabaster Jar. Please remember to register your children for VBS.  There is a table in the narthex to do so.  Maybe you are willing to help?  Please let us know if you would like to.  We can find places for older children to assist, too. Teacher and Nursery attendants are needed for the UCC Sundays in the summer on the following dates:  6/22, 6/29, 7/20, 7/27, 8/17 and 8/24.  Nursery help is also needed on 5/25 and 6/1.  Please call Bonnie Warren at the church at 453-4316 or Erica LaTray at 452-2153 if you can help.

MYANMAR (formerly Burma) APPEAL

Your church is already there through OGHS

In the wake of unfathomable natural disaster in Myanmar, the United Church of Christ issued a $100,000 emergency appeal to aid victims and prepare for long-term recovery.  An initial $5,000 was immediately made available to Myanmar needs and other gifts will be forwarded as well. The UCC's Myanmar Cyclone Fund is a special OGHS disaster appeal.  Contributions to support these efforts may be sent to:  Church World Service,  P.O. Box 968

TAKE A BOW

Kudos to our congregation for co-hosting a very successful Conference Annual Meeting.  We had a wonderful Conference Annual Meeting shared with the Disciples of Christ for fellowship, food and fun, worship, workshops and keynote addresses as well tending to necessary business as moderated by Ray Young.  SPECIAL THANKS to Donalee LaBar and her committee for registration, Jaybe Floyd and team for the Thursday night supper, Nick Cetto for set up, Syneva Heupel and all others who provided snacks, June Rovero for providing hospitality, Stacy Hopkins for organizing housing, Janet Koostra for publicity, Ray & Diane Young for the workshops, Jim Petersen for being one of our local pastors, Richard McDowell who was the UGF Liaison, the Bertsche Memorial Fund for sponsoring our ten youth who attended, and to everyone who attended as delegates, choir members, visitors, as well as those who attended Sunday morning worship.  It was especially nice worshiping at Central Christian Church with the Disciples of Christ Sunday morning, filling their sanctuary with our ecumenical spirit.

     NATIONAL YOUTH EVENT 2008!

It was announced at the Conference Annual Meeting that there are 10 slots still available for this potentially life-changing experience July 21-30.  Cost is $1,000. The Bertsche Memorial Fund will support ½ of that ($500).

Call or stop by the office if interested.

Received at the Conference Annual Meeting was a certificate for our support of theological education in 2007 from Chicago United Eden (CUE SEMINARIES) of the United Church of Christ.  Our church's total support in 2007 was $1,800 and has been vital to UCC seminaries over the past year - and continues to be into the future.  Please continue to hold the students, faculty and staff in your prayers.

Graduation Banquet, Friday May 16th, 6:00 P.M.

All UCC and CUMC youth are invited to attend a banquet

honoring our 2008 graduates.  Free will offering at the door.  The menu is Italian chicken served over rice, salad, vegetable and bread.  A cake auction will follow dinner to help fund summer activities.  If you would like to make a cake to be auctioned off please contact Bobby Lauver at 868-2520.  RSVP to the office at 453-4316.

If you have or know of a college graduate, please call the office and let us know their name, school, and what their degree is in.  We will recognize them in the newsletter!

In Memory of Priscilla Kuka

Once again the PA system in the sanctuary has been enhanced through the charity of Tom & Jan Robitaille, in memory of Priscilla Kuka.  Installation was done by Sunshine Productions and included a new soundboard mixing console and handheld and lavaliere mics.  We seek to address continued hearing problems in the sanctuary.  Thank you, Tom and Jan, for your lovely gift in memory of your dear friend.

Conference Transitions

Announced at the Conference Annual Meeting were the following clergy who will be leaving the Conference:

David Dickbernd; retiring from Pilgrim Church in Billings after 13 ½ years and moving to Nebraska.

Vernon Wright; after serving Plymouth Church in Helena for 7 years, he accepted a call to a church in MA.

Bob Miller; from Sheridan, WY is going to half time ministry as a move towards retirement next year.

We wish them well and thank them for their faithful leadership.
