WE RODE THE BIG WAVE DURING VBS

What fun you surfers had this past week atVacation Bible School while you were catching those sweet summer swells and Surfin' Through the Scriptures with your beach buddies.  You learned to ?Be Obedient', ?Be Kind', ?Be Forgiving', ?Be Bold' and ?BE-LIEVE'!  All of you were TOTALLY AWESOME!  There were approximately 40 surfers age 3-11, as well as 10 youth and 24 adults making our Beach Party so successful!  Thank you so much to the following:  Beach Padre- Rev. SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS & ROOM PICK UP

Children will begin in worship this Sunday before being dismissed to room 2 for a UCC Sunday Special with Liz Lee. Sunday Special teachers are needed for 7/27.  Nursery care is needed for 8/17.  Please call Bonnie Warren at 453-4316 or Erica LaTray at 452-2153 if you are able to help.

YOUR OGHS IS HARD AT WORK

With the cyclone in Myanmar, the earthquake in China, and now flooding in the midwest, the United Church of Christ is calling for an OGHS Spring 2008 for which it is seeking $200,000 for the current response and long-term recovery efforts. 21 counties in Indiana, 43 in Iowa and 30 in Wisconsin were declared disaster areas, affecting many UCC members and churches. To help those affected by the disasters, you may send gifts payable to Wider Church Ministries, for "2008 Spring Tornadoes and Floods" to the Office for Global Sharing of Resources; Wider Church Ministries; 700 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, OH  44115

 

 

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS/GOOD NEWS SCHEDULE

Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday,

8:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M. and Friday, 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

  MOVIE NIGHT AT THE CHURCH

Join us on Monday, June 23rd for movie night. The Bucket List (1hr, 37min), starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson will be shown in the sanctuary at 6:30 P.M.  Come casual, bring a friend, and enjoy fellowship. 

 

Immediately following worship this Sunday, June 22nd, there will be a columbarium presentation in the sanctuary to better inform the congregation about plans to provide a burial place for loved one's cremains at the church.

Counselors are needed to help ensure the success of camp.  Directing the 3rd-4th grade camp is Janet Koostra with Rev. Jim & Katrina Petersen and Bonnie Warren counseling. If you would like to help, please let us know!  Also, please let the office know if you are planning to attend any camp so that we can organize carpooling!  Thank you.

                          JUNE YOUTH AGENDA

           (see youth link to left for July schedule)

Bobby Lauver of Christ UMC will continue to lead our joint Sr/Jr High youth group through the summer.  The following activities are planned for all (going into) 6th-12th graders, including our graduates.

Weds. Evening Fellowship will continue at the church, 6:30 PM - 8 PM.  Join us for fun & games, reflection & fellowship.

Lock-in, Friday, June 20.  At First UMC, 610 2nd Ave. N., youth will gather at 8 PM.  At 11 PM "Chaos Friday" will be the order of the day.  Bring sleeping bag and pillow, etc. Concludes at 8 A.M. on Saturday.

Flag Football, June 22.  Join coach Bobby for a pick-up game of flag football on Sunday, June 22, at 2 PM, North Kiwanis Park.  As in all our activities, friends are welcome!

Lick Creek Caves hike, June 29.

We will leave the church parking lot at 1 PM for this Sunday hike in the Little Belts.  Again, friends and parents, or any other adult, is welcome as well.  The caves are cool and muddy, so bring warm clothes and a change of shoes, as well as a flashlight.

Summertime - a season of special opportunities.  Please join us, even if you have not been active during the school year!

 

 

 

IT'S A GARDEN PARTY!  Please join us on Friday, June 20th for a garden party of weeding and clearing up the flower beds at the church.  We'll get started at 9:00 A.M., please bring your own garden tools.

 

 

A NOTE FROM WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

The Women's Bible Study group will sponsor a bring your own picnic to the Wednesday Concert In The Park on June 25th at 6:30 P.M.  We'll meet at Paris Gibson for dinner and then enjoy the concert together.  We encourage the entire church family to join us!
