A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all who attended our Columbarium Dedication Ceremony last Sunday. About 100 people were gathered for a most touching ceremony that included the inurnment of Christopher Barber, Wally Floen, and Ernie Mathews. Thank you to those who have purchased niches. Niches are still available. If you are interested in purchasing a niche, please contact one of the Columbarium Board members: Nick Cetto,
Thank you to all who have responded so generously and quickly to our second pledge request. We have received 31 new and revised pledges totaling $16,748. Thank you for your stewardship thus far. We now have 170 pledges (exceeding last year's 168!) totaling $215,266 for an average pledge of $1,266. We are still short $9,000 but thankfully, we're a whole lot closer. It's not too late if you wish to prayerfully consider one of two things: 1) Can you increase your 2009/10 pledge? 2) Can you pledge for the 2009/10 church fiscal year if you have not already done so? Pledge cards may be mailed or you can call the office and let Holly know your intentions.
A LETTER FROM OUR GENERAL MINISTER AND PRESIDENT Dear Colleague:
Enclosed is a certificate recognizing your congregation as a Covenant Keeper church in the United Church of Christ. As General Minister and President of your United Church of Christ, I write to congratulate you! Your church can be proud of your giving to Our Church's Wider Mission. In these challenging economic times- which may be the church's finest hour- we commend you for your commitment. Together our gifts enable us to actively welcome the stranger, fight poverty, take courageous stands on controversial issues- all the while tending to the Gospel to spread the Good News, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and shelter the homeless. With your gifts to Our Church's Wider Mission, we grow into a united voice for change, strengthen missionaries worldwide, and lift struggling churches with support for pastors or buildings. We provide UCC resources for worship, stewardship, and evangelism. And through Our Church's Wider Mission, we become a voice for justice in our communities and our global family. All of this takes financial support. The Covenant Keeper program emphasizes the value of standards of giving while respecting that congregations have different capacities and all should know that their contributions count. Thank you for your good work in support of the United Church of Christ- and in setting an example for others. And, above all, know that my prayers are with you.
John H. Thomas General Minister and President God Is Still Speaking, (the certificate is in the conference room for those who are interested in seeing it)
