2009 SUMMER PHOTO PROJECT

Hopefully everyone is enjoying their summer!  Whether you have taken a long vacation, a short trip, been to Hawaii or to Holter Lake, we are looking for your photo.  Please submit ONE photo to Laura Barber at barberbunch@bresnan.net from your summer.  Please include WHERE the picture was taken, WHO is in the picture, WHEN the picture was taken and HOW you experienced God during your trip.  If you do not have a computer please feel free to drop off your photo in the church office. We would like to use your photo for our Homecoming Sunday service so please have your photo into the church office or sent to Laura by Sunday, September 6.  Thank you and if you have any questions, contact Laura Barber at 952-4192.

CENTRAL CHRISTIAN FUN-RAISER

On Saturday, August 22, Central Christian Church is having a fun-raiser from 10:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. at 1025 Central Ave. All books, DVD's, videotapes, and cd's will be on sale for just $1.00.  Win fun prizes - enter the Ping Pong Tournament ($5) - or try the Wii tournament ($2).  There will also be food concessions!

ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY

The Greatest Silence:  Rape in the Congo, a documentary film about human rights violations, will be presented by Genevieve "Spud" Dupis at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 2.  This will be held in the Adult Education Room at Sts. Peter and Paul Center (2816 Central Avenue; enter by the RCIA door, from parking lot).  A discussion and refreshments will follow, as well as an update from Ms. Dupis's most recent trip to Uganda.

Bonnie Warren and the Christian Education Board would like to thank you for the beautiful flowers and lovely arrangement that was on the altar July 19th!  We would also like to thank all of you in this congregation for sharing your time, talents, trust and treasures with us and the children of our church.  We value the trust of all who send their children, their most precious possessions, to us!  We love what we do.  God bless you all.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS AUGUST 9

Please join us for this special worship to celebrate our connection to God's creatures with whom we abide on this earth. You may bring anything that can be caged, leashed, or harnessed.  We will worship outside on the lawn and give thanks to God for the animals in our lives.  Also, bring items from the garden (food, flowers, preserves, etc) to share for our Harvest Exchange Table.

With summer being the most abundant time for growing, how about folks with flower gardens bring a vase of flowers for the altar on Sundays? What a delightful way to spread beauty and cheer!

BLUE SURVEYS:  In recent months, we've had a variety of folks from the congregation imagining what it would be for our church family to re-claim Wednesday evenings as a "Church & Family Night" - with a simple meal, fellowship, and small groups for all ages ? Nursery care, children's groups, our existing groups for those in grades 3-12, choirs, and adding adult small groups for discussion and study of the Bible, our faith, our world, our relationships ?

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS/GOOD NEWS SCHEDULE

Part of the process of bringing this to light is to get YOUR feedback.  PLEASE FILL OUT THE ENCLOSED SURVEY AND RETURN TO THE CHURCH ASAP.  Help us spread the word and the excitement!   God is speaking and moving, but it is up to us to make God alive in our hearts and in our lives.
