NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC

Please join us this coming Sunday, September 13th for our annual NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC, immediately following worship, sponsored by the Church Growth Board. We will gather on the front lawn area of the church for FOOD, FUN and FELLOWSHIP.  The Church Growth Board is providing beverages and barbecued meat.  We are asking that you please bring a picnic dish to share such as salad, dessert, chips, beans, fruit, etc.  Bring your lawn chair if you care to.  There will be a Jolly Jumper, volleyball for all ages, and other games.  Invite friends and family as we RALLY TOGETHER, re-connecting with our church family and re-establishing our values, commitment and faith.

THE HARVEST EXCHANGE TABLE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE HARVEST.

2009 SUMMER PHOTO PROJECT

Time is drawing near for our Homecoming Sunday photo project.  If you haven't already done so, please submit ONE photo from your summer to Laura Barber at barberbunch@bresnan.net or to the church office.  Don't forget to include WHERE the picture was taken, WHO is in the picture, WHEN the picture was taken and HOW you experienced God during your trip.

SEEKING A FEW FAITHFUL PRAYER WARRIORS

One of the loveliest ministries in our church is our prayer chain.  We respond to your requests, holding our dear ones and others in brief prayer daily.  We upgrade our prayer list weekly or as needed, passing the names and concerns along confidentially.  Currently we have seven pray-ers in our chain, holding 30 persons in prayer.  Our chain consists of June Rovero, coordinator, Elizabeth Reid, Patti Hebein, Lorri Keith, Helen Hurlbert, Barbara Hughes, and Rita Ginter.  If you would like to join this ministry, let Rev. Jim know.  It only requires a phone and a pledge to spend some minutes in prayer each day.  So this ministry can be done from your home and when you choose.  We do not have meetings.  Prayer works, for both those offering and receiving the prayers.  It strengthens all of us. Consider joining our prayer chain.

Look for our ads in this week's Tribune.  You'll be sure to recognize some faces!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE!

IS OFF AND RUNNING

This new ministry, aimed at ALL ages, begins with dinner from 5:30-6:00 P.M. There is a free will offering.   The cooks for Wednesday, September 16th are Bob & Carolyn Dowdy who will prepare a meal with their Dutch oven.  (You may recall an article about Bob in the Tribune).  From 6:00-6:15 P.M., we have song and fellowship before breaking up into groups. Nursery care is provided for children ages 0-2, by newly hired nursery attendant Jill Skinner who has a background in early childhood development.  Pre-K through 2nd grade will be led by Marilyn Brasch, a member of Christ United Methodist and recently retired from the Deaf andBlind School.  Janet Koostra and June Rovero lead our 3-5 grade youth group, God's Fun Makers.  6-12 grade youth group is coordinated by Kristen Cates.  Their theme for the month is R-E-S-P-E-C-T.  On September 16th, they learn about respecting each other and building trust, play a game or two, review their covenant, do an "Apostle Walk" and close with a song.  Adult study groups are also available.  The initial offering will be discussed at the September 9th gathering.  We are still looking for volunteers to cook, clean up, assist with our youth, or lead an adult group, whether it be one time or for a series.  Please let Rev. Kama or Rev. Jim  know of your interest.
