TONIGHT! OCTOBER 8TH

SOUP & ROLLS for the SOULS is back! Our first alternative worship of the season will begin tonight, Thursday, October 8th at 5:45 P.M. This worship will be led by Rev. Jim Petersen in the sanctuary.  Supper is free and will be at 6:30 P.M.  For those who would like to stay, Rev. Jim Petersen will facilitate a discussion on the novel, The Shack, in the parlor at 7:00 P.M.  All are welcome to attend, whether you have read the book or not.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS

Children will begin and remain in worship this Sunday.  Bibles will be given to the fourth graders and the Acolytes will be commissioned!  This is a truly special Sunday!

After the service the children, along with the members of the Christian Education Board, will be in the Fellowship Hall to sell the ?Worry Dolls" they made on the 4th.  We will also have items from the supply room that you may find a use for, or just have fun with!  The proceeds from this Fund Raiser will go toward our sponsorship of Global Ministries and Christhoper Mongeopa, who lives in thePhilippines.  We have heard no more from the lady who connects us with him, so we are trusting the second typhoon did not harm them.  We hold these people and others who suffer in our prayers.

FALL DINNER GROUPS

DON'T MISS this great opportunity for good conversation and savory cuisine!!!  Sign-up has begun for these small potluck groups. Groups are formed from the sign-up sheets.  If you are interested, you may also call the church office. Hosts coordinate with their guests. Two rounds are held; one in the fall and one in the winter.  A final "celebratory" event is held in the spring for a grand finale.  The fall round of dinners will be held in October and November.

Senior Youth Group (grades 6-12) will be focusing on COMMUNITY for the month of October. They will meet on Wednesday, October 14th, from 6:15-7:30 P.M. and will meet the neighbors, play games, and talk about Communion.

For a complete line up of our Wednesday Night Live!, please see the "upcoming events" on the back page.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY BEGINS

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing, absolutely nothing goes according to plan?  Since life doesn't come with a "Do Over" button, we can still make the best of our days, even if it always seems that it's one thing or another.  Getting Through the Tough Stuff with Chuck Swindoll discusses temptation, anxiety, shame, doubt, misunderstanding, divorce, remarriage, inadequacy, death, pain, prejudice, confrontation, etc.  Cost of the study guide is $17.00.  Bible study begins October 13th at 6:30 P.M. at Micki Fura's house, 3315 6th Avenue N.  If you plan on attending, or have any questions, please call Micki at 453-6619.  Thank you.

Rev. Jim Petersen's Bible Study WILL NOT meet on Wednesday October 14 or Sunday October 18. Homework for the next week, October 21 and 25, is to read the Book of Acts and Chapter 1 from your study guide.
