FINAL CALL TO CONGREGATIIONAL MEETING 

 

ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH AT 10:30 A.M., you are encouraged to join us in Fellowship Hall for a one agenda item meeting to receive a proposal from Church Council on Invitation to the Journey, a three year discernment process facilitated by co-pastors fromWashington, and produced by the Center for Parish Development in Chicago. For more information, please visit our website- www.greatfallsucc.org and go to the WORSHIP page, then click on Invitation to the Journey.  Your thoughts count!  Please be in attendance.  Refreshments will be provided as well as childcare.  (see Sunday School news below for childcare details).


 

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS & ROOM PICK UP

   On Sunday, November 15, children are invited to remain in Worship.  A Sunday Special will be provided in Room 5 with Cathy & Annie Petersen for Pre-School.

   So that parents and grandparents may attend the Congregational Meeting after worship, Christeen & Gloria Collins are providing childcare downstairs.  Children will watch Veggie Tales and enjoy trail mix and apple juice.

   Thank you to those who so generously supported our Trail Mix Fund Raiser for Christhoper.  $78.55 was donated to help with our quarterly support payments to Global Ministries for our mission partner Christhoper.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE, NOVEMBER 18- Mark your calendars. From 6:15-7:30 P.M., we will have an intergenerational activity for all ages!  We are making Advent wreaths to take home (other crafts will be available for smaller children).  Thank you to Russ Davis for providing us with our wooden bases. Candles will also be provided.  We need you to bring the following, if able: glue gun (with extension cord), small pinecones, greenery, ribbon, sequins, other decorating materials. What a great project for children, adults, singles, couples, families?Come, join the fun!

Calendar Updates

The UCC Men's Group will NOT meet on November 19.  They will meet on Thursday, December 3 at 11:30 A.M. at Good Eats, 801 2nd Ave. N.

Rev. Jim's Bible Study will NOT meet on Wednesday, November 18 or Sunday, November 22.

YOUR CHURCH AT WORK

     Thank for your continued donations to our Blanket, Bedding and Beyond offering.  Your generosity brought in three dozen warm blankets and sheets as well at $575. 

     Thanksgiving Baskets are in the narthex to fill with non-perishable food items. These items will be given to The Salvation Army for people who are less fortunate so they too will have a nice Thanksgiving. Thank you for caring.

 

KITTY BRAUND BOOK SIGNING

Author Kitty Braund will sign copies of her newest book, Shattered Innocence, at Hastings on Saturday, November 14, from 1-4 P.M.  She will also have a book signing at the church on Sunday, November 22, at 10:30 A.M.  Cost of the book is $15.00 and if purchased at church, $3.00 of every book purchased will be donated to the church.

 

Rev. Jim Petersen will be out of the office November 16-18.  He is attending a Conference-wide clergy retreat in Bozeman with pastors from Disciples of Christ, United Methodist, United Church of Christ, as well as ELCA congregations throughout Montana.  The Circle of Trust retreat is an opportunity to re-connect at a deeper level with life and work and better embrace the various roles and responsibilities that parish ministry requires.

 

 

THANKSGIVING POTLUCK DINNER NOVEMBER 22, 5:00 P.M.

The turkey supper potluck is Sunday November 22nd at 5:00 P.M.  A sign up sheet will be available for those willing to bring gravy, dressing, potatoes, yams, vegetables, salads, relish trays, desserts, etc. Bread, cranberry sauce and beverages will be provided by the Fellowship Board.  Turkeys and hams are also provided.

You are cordially invited to join family and friends in celebrating Ruth Nervik's birthday at an open house on Saturday, November 14, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at 4604 3rd Avenue S., #11

 

 
 

 


YOUTH GROUP NEWS

On Wednesday, November 18th, Youth Group (grades 6-12) will learn about Volunteers in Service.  Luke Walawander, of the AmeriCorps VISTA program and others will talk about what they are doing to better help our community.  6:15-7:30 P.M.
