A quote from Rev. Jim Petersen's sermon last week: "And so it is for us. There will come a time in our life - or many times - when something will be expected of us. A time when we will have to make a sacrifice. We may have to forgive or forego something. We may have to change something. We may have to risk something. We may have to lay down our life for something. The point is, sometime, at some point, there comes a time: when dining with Jesus is over and doing for Jesus begins; when we can no longer just be the recipients of Jesus' words, but we must become the hands and feet and backbone Christ's ministry; when we can no longer sit at the feet of Jesus and soak up his offering, but we have to stand up and make our own contributions. I call this growing up. You call it what you like. "
EASTER FLOWERS It is not too late to join us in celebrating the joy of Easter (April 4) by filling our chancel with spring flowers. We are still collecting for Easter flowers. Call the church office to order a plant in memory or honor of a loved one, or just for the beauty of the season. A $10 donation is all it takes.
Pledge cards are coming into the office on a regular basis. Already, 66 cards have been received, totaling $124,049, for an average of $1,880 per pledge! Save us a second mailing, please return your pledge card by Friday, March 26.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

Wednesday's group will meet on March 31 at 12:00 P.M. for a special presentation from Donna Williams. There is NO Bible Study on Sunday April 4 so those folks are encouraged to attend the March 31 group. Donna Williams will make a presentation on Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan's book, The Last Week. Written partially in response to Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ, these two leading Jesus scholars largely follow the Gospel of Mark to present a day-by-day account of Jesus's final week in
Discovering the Journey What is God calling and sending our church to be and do? Everything we do as Christian communties relates in some way to God's calling and sending of the church to participate in God's mission. If we once thought of the church as the sending agency - and missionaries were the people who the church sent - we now are thinking very differently. As we read Scripture afresh in a North American context that is itself mission territory, we realize that God is a calling and sending God, and the church is the called and sent people. So, what is God calling and sending the church to be and do? The answer is expressed by each local community as it discerns and designs its life and ministry in response to the sending God. The Journey is not simply a new way to keep doing what is presently going on in our church. It does not offer merely a "tune up," or adaptations to existing programs and priorities. Rather, in a very constructive and faith-filled manner, it enables the congregation to evaluate and define anew the nature, purpose, and practices of its life together in light of God's mission. It offers the opportunity to make the changes necessary in order to become more faithful to God's calling and purpose in our setting and situation. HOLY WEEK
