 MAY 12, 2010

THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

Do you remember when we built our current building?  Our building expansion?  Our Centennial Ball?   Rev. Dierberger?  Our church has an amazing past and our members have amazing stories to tell.  All members and friends are invited to come explore this history - our history, on Sunday, May 23rd at our CONFERENCE ON THE PAST at 12:00 P.M. following worship.  Held in conjunction with our Annual Meeting, together, we will share memories to make us laugh and cry, high points and low points, and the milestones that have shaped us into who we are today.  This Conference is the next step on our Journey of Transformation.  As with the Journey Bible Studies, we'll have community-building and small group discussions, as well as conduct business for the 120th Annual Meeting.  There's nothing better than sharing stories with friends.  So, come join the fun and stroll down memory lane as we examine our past in order to lay a firm foundation for a fabulous future. Lunch and childcare will be provided.  We look forward to you being there!

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS & ROOM PICK UP

This Sunday, children will meet in Room 4 at 10:45 A.M. so that they can be grouped to lead the congregation in singing the choral introit.  When they finish singing they will sit with their parents in the sanctuary for the remainder of the service.  We will honor High School graduates, learn aboutCamp Mimanagish, and revisit the story of Zacchaeus. Children ages 3-7 are invited to go to Room 5 for a Sunday Special.

A quote from Rev. Jim Petersen's May 9th sermon on the Ascension:  "So don't stand there looking for Jesus in the sky.  Don't expect to see Christ sitting on the throne next to the King of kings.  We find Jesus where Jesus has always been, and where he is present throughout the Gospels, serving the poor and seeking the lost, healing the lame and saving the sinner, touching the untouchable and loving the lowly, praying for peace and working for justice.  This is where Jesus is always found, and he is waiting to meet us there.  For we are the church, the body of Christ today."

Thank you to all who sent in their pledge cards for the upcoming fiscal year. 161 cards were received totaling $218,395, for an average of $1,356 per pledge. With some trimming here and there, the Business Affairs Board is prepared to present a balanced budget at the Annual Meeting.

LABELS FOR EDUCATION

If you participate in saving labels from Campbell's Soup Co. products, please heed these instructions:  They want only the UPC (Universal Product Code) clipped from the label.  They do not want the entire product label.  Some labels also have a point value attached (1 point or 5 points).  Please include those with the UPC label.  Labels from the following products qualify:  Campbell's Soup, Campbell's V8, Franco-American, Swanson, Prego, Spaghettios, and Pepperidge Farm.  By saving these labels, we can help support the Intermountain Children's Home in Helena to obtain supplies for arts, athletics, and academics through a program offered by the Campbell's Soup Company.  Thank you for your help.  And remember, UPC and point value labels only!  There is a collection container near the coat racks in the narthex.
