It's free!

A quote from Rev. Jim Petersen's May 30th   sermon:  "The Trinity summarizes our belief about God.  It is a theological shorthand for what we as Christians believe? It is a formula which reduces that which is beyond our understanding into something we can hopefully wrap our arms around, if not our minds, and be comforted? There are other experiences of God, to be sure.  God is larger than any formula, doctrine or creed.  But as Christians we express our experience of God through the Trinity, which proclaims:  God as creator, Christ as savior, and the Holy Spirit as everlasting comforter? If this remains incomprehensible to you- don't sweat it!  But do go forth with the grace of God, the love Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.  Amen."

If you have or know of a college graduate in our church family, please call the office and let us know their name, school, and what their degree is in so we can recognize them in the  newsletter!

Friendly Reminder- UCC Boards Night is Monday, June 7 at 6:15 P.M.  Council will follow at 7:30 P.M.  We look forward to seeing the new as well as familiar faces.

Dear Rev. Jim's Wednesday "B.S." Group,

Your thank you's have been greatly appreciated, and I have been thrilled to participate in my own way.  So, after prayerful consideration, I have decided to "pay it forward" with your gift and donate it to the Women's Rescue Mission.  Thank you for letting me be a part of your study.

From Your Journey Coordinating Team:

We wish to thank each and every person who participated in our Conference on the Past on May 23.  You shared your stories, your ideas, and made friends.  The overall ideas from the Conference broke down into three concept groups (Global, Local, Individual) and then into decade groups (70's and before, 80's, 90's and y2000+).  Here are some general observations:  The Global group found that the events they listed represented change and challenges to all people.  The Local group noticed that stages of life interfered with participation in church functions, and that outside activities compete for family and church time.  The Individual group observed the trend of more women working outside the home.  There are more single and divorced parents and even grandparents raising the children.  The church remains central for birth, death, marriages, and confirmation.  The Journey Team will meet in a few weeks to pour over the data and bring together the conclusions to help us determine God's mission and direction for our church today, and the future.  Pray for us, as we do for all of you.  Shalom.
